You moved into a house with a pre-installed security system
Sometimes when people close on a home, a home security system is already established. All the devices function well, are placed in the correct spaces, and are ready to go. In this instance, you might find that you have to call and set up a new service contract. A Vivint expert will still come out to ensure there are no compatibility issues, and they could offer options on an upgrade or two. It's a preliminary appointment, and you can have your 24/7 monitoring set up without worrying about any new components -- unless you add on.
The previous homeowners can give an existing Vivint contract to your family for a nominal transfer cost to make the transfer simpler. If the previous owners are downsizing to an apartment complex or smaller home, you keeping the home security contract might be a condition of the sale.
You are looking to move and bring your old equipment with you
You may need to take your favorite home security components with you to a new place when you move. Luckily, it's fairly simple to transfer, as modern components are wireless. You can remove each alarm or camera yourself or call a Vivint expert to come and take down everything. Then our installers will set up the same features -- and any additions you want to have -- in the new home. Your home security contract will remain the same.
